The Music Of Black Origin Awards was established in 1996 by Kanya King MBE to recognise and celebrate artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing or creating ‘urban’ or ‘black’ music. The MOBO Awards is the most prestigious black music awards show in Europe.

Solution

We were briefed on the MOBO brand concept which was contemporary and stylish with an element of luxury. The language was professional and funky. We were briefed to art direct the magazine and work with the editorial team and fuse the brand concept.

Result

  • 60k copies circulated through HMV and given away at the annual show
  • “The best MOBO magazine produced to date!”, Ras Kwame – BBC Radio 1
  • Re-commissioned to create the next years annual
